| History of GPM-Ducati 600 TT2 1981 In 1979 the skilled constructor & engine-builder Pietro Gianesin started his own company, GPM Racing in Sossano, Italy. Specialized in Ducati V-twin engines, he began develop them in his own way, and due to very good results, and request from the market, he started his own Team GPM Racing. From the year 1980 they built their own complete TT2 and later TT1 racing-bikes, and became very successful. (TT2 = Formula 2, and TT1 = Formula 1 bikes) Well known riders as Davide Tardozzi, Maurizio Rossi, Virginio Ferrari, Pierfrancesco Chili and Paolo Casoli were amongst the most victorious with GPM bikes. Numerous of Italian national TT2 och TT1 titles were also achieved. 1991 Davide Tardozzi became European Champion in Superbike. World Cahampionship TT1 was achieved by Virginio Ferrari 1987, and in 1997 by Paolo Casoli in Supersport. And as many people know Davide Tardozzi, has been the boss of Ducati Works-team in Superbike since many years. The well known Bimota-constructor, engineer Federico Martini was engaged by GPM to design their very special TT2-frame. There is a Monoshock rear-unit, but in a very special location on the bike on the left side, probably to be easy to adjust in length and stiffness as to all different tracks. Furthermore, the GPM TT2 bikes used to be equipped with much parts of magnesium and other light materials, therefore they were so very light as a complete bike..! GPM also had a close collaboration with Bimota, GPM made their engines - for example to Bimota DB1 R (the racing version), which clearly can be seen on the special GPM dry-clutch, often with its GPM monogram in the casting. As the GPM company got more and more successful, they achieved a even closer collaboration in 1990 with the Ducati factory. |

| This GPM TT2 are one of (probably) maximum 3 constructed in 1981, and as to previous owners, Davide Tardozzi amongst other known riders in the team who rode this bike. And it is most likely that this is the truth, as there were many top drivers in the GPM Racing-Team and so very few racing machines made every year.! Furthermore, this example is also equipped with a near maximum of magnesium parts that were available at the time as the Ducati factory ones..! For example: Campagnolo magnesium-wheels, Marzocchi racing 35 mm adjustable front fork even with top yoke in magnesium, pair of racing Dellorto PHM 41 mm, and much more! Which also "guarantees" that it was a bike used by the GPM Team! All this above mentioned makes the complete bike very light, with dry weight of only 127 kg, and very small in its whole size more like a 250 to drive. Today it is the 750 TT1 racing-engine in the chassis, but the original 600 TT2 engine (sandcast very special casting), and an extra 600 converted to a real original TT2 also is included, plus a lot of extra original spares. A uniqe possibility to achieve a real old GPM-Ducati TT2/TT1 for Classic Racing or parading purpose, and as a very important and interesting vehicle for Show or for a Museum.! So, this a real extreme TT-bike for someone who wants something real extra..! Asking price: 185.000:- SEK, or make an offer |
